Doodles’ Stoodio Moves to Base, Launches Open-Edition NFT Mint

Doodles' Stoodio Moves to Base, Launches Open-Edition NFT Mint

Doodles has announced plans to migrate its avatar customization platform ‘Stoodio’ from the Flow blockchain to Ethereum’s layer-2 scaling network, Base.

Stoodio will make the transition to Base, while Doodles’ original PFP collection will remain on Ethereum. The transition is scheduled for mid-July and aims to take advantage of Base’s faster and more cost-effective transactions compared to the Ethereum mainnet.

To mark the migration, Doodles will offer an open edition Base NFT mint through Zora, unlocking exclusive content within Stoodio post-migration.

A Strategic Shift for Mainstream Adoption

Julian Holguin, CEO of Doodles, clarified that the decision was driven by the project’s strategy for broader adoption and user engagement. “Flow were incredible partners to us. They’ve built some of the stuff that this space as a whole should be most proud of. I think, at the end of the day, it just came down to a lot of our existing community being in other places,” Holguin stated.

Jesse Pollak, Creator of Base, also expressed enthusiasm about the migration emphasizing that Doodles is “a major contributor to the creative on-chain culture” and shares the same vision with Base in terms of building a global economy serving artists and creators alike. “The Doodles community that they’ve built is a testament to the power of reaching your fans directly, and we are so excited for Doodles to build on Base,” Pollak added.

Austin Hurwitz, Head of Business Development and Strategy at Doodles, also added, “We believe that the next wave of crypto adoption will be driven by products that are not only easy to use, but also entertaining and valuable. By joining forces with Coinbase and Base, we are taking a major step towards realizing this vision.”

This migration aligns with Doodles’ upcoming animated short film directed by Scott Martin, Doodle’s founder. The film, “Dullsville and the Doodleverse“, is set for release in September and will feature music by Pharrell Williams with contributions from musicians Lil Wayne and Coi Leray.
