Jacquemus Celebrates 15 Years with “La Casa”: A playful exploration of form at Casa Malaparte.
Adding to the buzz of the show, Blackpink’s Jennie Kim closed the runway, marking her modeling debut for Jacquemus. This collaboration further solidified the brand’s connection to popular culture and its status as a fashion favorite.
Jacquemus, the Parisian fashion house known for its unique shows and contemporary aesthetic, recently celebrated its 15th anniversary with a collection titled “La Casa.” Held at the iconic Casa Malaparte in Capri, Italy, the show marked a full-circle moment for designer Simon Porte Jacquemus.
EW’s favourite looks from the show:
A Duality of Lightness and Structure
The collection itself explored a fascinating duality. Minimalist geometric shapes and classical Greek draping formed the foundation, but with a modern twist – think radical reinterpretations and an emphasis on purity. Fresh silhouettes emerged, where architectural forms were surprisingly light and sensual. Jersey fabrics cascaded and flowed, revealing glimpses of skin through sheer mousseline. Tailored jackets boasted strong statements with angled collars and precise paneling, some featuring hand-painted edges for a touch of artistry.
Playful Chic with a Touch of Summer
The designer didn’t forget his signature playful touch. Zebra-striped suits and outfits with curving silhouettes and defined waists added a touch of whimsy. Familiar pieces like tank tops, loose pants, and front-pleated shorts were reworked with Jacquemus’ signature flair. Crisp denim, marinière polos, and airy boatneck tops rounded out the collection, exuding a sense of effortless chic.
Capri Inspiration and Debut Accessories
The show’s location deeply influenced the collection. References to Curzio Malaparte’s home (Casa Malaparte) and Jean-Luc Godard’s film “Le Mépris” were subtly woven in – from floor tile motifs to the color palette featuring Capri blue, fiery red, pops of yellow, and sage green.
“La Casa” also saw the debut of two new Jacquemus bags: “La Spiaggia,” a handcrafted, shape-shifting bag that embodies the essence of the beach, and “Le Bombola,” a bucket bag with an angular design reminiscent of the show’s location.Stacked ballerina flats, square-toed espadrilles, and moccasins completed the looks. Summery caps and hats emblazoned with “Capri” branding added a final, playful touch.
A Full-Circle Moment
For Jacquemus, the Casa Malaparte held a special significance. It captivated his imagination 15 years ago when he launched his brand. The show marked a return to those early inspirations, with the collection reflecting the meticulous craftsmanship, design precision, and focus on materials that have become the label’s hallmarks. The entire experience was, as Simon himself described, “an indescribable honor made real.”
The “La Casa” collection is a testament to brand’s enduring spirit of innovation and his ability to blend playful elements with timeless design. The show’s location served as a powerful reminder of the brand’s journey and its commitment to creating unforgettable fashion moments.
